The 11th Conference for Cultural Tourism in Europe
in the frame of the 'European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018' (EYCH2018)

European Initiative: Tourism & heritage Sustainable and Responsible Tourism around Cultural Heritage,
co-organised by the Pafos Regional Board of Tourism, lead partner of Interreg Europe CHRISTA Project
The 11th international conference ‘ Cultural Heritage as an Asset for Responsible and Sustainable Tourism will discuss the latest trends in the field of cultural heritage and responsible and sustainable tourism, including innovation, creativity, design, r&d and cultural tourism product development.
The conference aims to explore major challenges, risks and opportunities for sustainable and responsible tourism development related to cultural heritage assets, as well as suggest practical steps for the development and promotion of cultural tourism products.
Presenters are invited to showcase relevant experience, share their best practices, give detailed examples and provide practical recommendations to preserving, restoring, deploying and promoting cultural values, diversity and heritage for sustainable and responsible tourism development.
The conference is organised in close cooperation with Pafos Regional Board of Tourism, lead partner of the Interreg Europe project CHRISTA – Culture and Heritage for Responsible, Innovative and Sustainable Tourism Actions (2016 – 2020).
The submitted Abstracts should address at least one of the following topics linked to cultural and heritage tourism:
1. Religious and Pilgrimage Tourism
2. Coastal and Maritime Tourism
3. Cultural Landscapes and Tourism
4. Industrial and Military Heritage
5. Historic Houses, Villages and Cities
6. Transnational Thematic Products (including Cultural Routes and Cross-border initiatives)
7. Contributions by Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs) to Cultural and Creative Tourism.
Other Information:
There will be no fees for selected presenters attending the Conference.
Participants, including selected presenters will have to make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation. ECTN cannot cover travel costs.
Abstracts and presentations accepted by the Programme Committee of the Conference may be published online with author's approval.
A post-conference study tour in Pafos Region is being planned.
The Awards ceremony of the ECTN prize for ‘Destination of Sustainable Cultural Tourism 2018’ will take place during the Conference. The 2018 ECTN Awards are in partnership with Europa Nostra and European Travel Commission, as a contribution to the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018.
